About Standard tuning

Standard tuning — E A D G B E from the thickest string to the thinnest — is the reference point for almost everything on guitar. Chord shapes, scale patterns, and the vast majority of songs and lessons assume it, which is why it's the tuning every player learns first.

Click Start Tuner, allow microphone access, and pluck one string at a time. The needle shows how far you are from the target in cents; tune up slowly until it settles in the green. If a string is far off, get within a fret or two by ear first so the tuner locks onto the right note.
